September 2020: Tourists will find that the town of Point Pleasant Beach has extended its 2020 summer season into late September. For those still looking to swim, the beaches at Maryland Ave and Bradshaw are still open and have guards on duty. Jenkinson’s Beach can be walked with ‘toes in the water’ but no swimming, as lifeguards have gone back to college and/or their winter jobs. Local restaurants are featuring outdoor seating, later into September than usual, but also are accommodating takeaway orders. Many will drive up Arnold ave to see that seating has crowded the sidewalks and parking lots to accommodate guests looking to taste local cuisine. The Jenkinson’s Boardwalk, food vendors and rides are also open on weekends for the remainder of September.
As the town tries to efficiently recoup tourist dollars, visitors can take advantage of the beautiful weather and discounted rental rates at local beach properties. Many AirBnB guests are looking to hold distance learning and Zoom work meetings from relaxed locations, in September and October, that are far different from their home environments. The Point Pleasant Beach area offers many unique homes that can accommodate such pursuits!
With all this activity happening, shore visitors can still find a place to squeak out the last bit of summer fun and avoid their worries of COVID, at least for a short while more.
